Eggnog chia pudding is the perfect way to enjoy a Christmas classic – in dessert form! It’s delectably creamy, filled with holiday spices, and it can be made with or without alcohol in the eggnog. Your choice!
It goes without saying that sweets are all the rage during the holidays. Yes, Christmas revolves around no bake cookies and a cozy mug of hot chocolate. But here at Downshiftology, I’m all for putting exciting twists on your favorite classics.
So you best believe that eggnog can be transformed into a deliciously spiced chia pudding dessert. The eggnog lends an ultra creamy texture, with hints of nutmeg, and a slight boozy kick. Then top it off with a dollop of cream and dusted cinnamon – the flavors are quite magical!
Eggnog Chia Pudding Ingredients
All you need for this recipe are eggnog and chia seeds! While you can use a store-bought eggnog, I say homemade eggnog is the way to go to avoid additional additives and high levels of sugar. Oh, and did I mention it only takes 5 minutes to make in a blender? When you make eggnog at home, you can also choose to make it alcohol-free, and turn this into a dessert for the kiddos as well.
How To Make Eggnog Chia Pudding
Although it takes the chia seeds a couple of hours to gel up – the wait is worth it. Here’s how to make it.
Give it a stir. Stir the eggnog and chia seeds together in a bowl or jar. Let it rest for 10 minutes then stir again to prevent clumping.
Let it chill. Refrigerate the pudding for at least one hour, though several hours is best.
Serve. Give it stir, separate into four cups, and serve! Feel free to add toppings as well (see below).
Make Ahead And Store
Good news – in a sealed container, this eggnog chia pudding will last for up to 5 days in the fridge! So you can make it ahead of time for holiday festivities and parties, then simply garnish before serving. It’s holiday desserts made easy!
This chia pudding is delicious on its own—and even better when layered with cream and dusted spices. That’s how I like to decorate mine, but it’s really a blank canvas for you to play with flavors. Here’s a few ideas.
